Minister of the Word
Eric Hancox is a graduate of Westminster College (B.S. in Accounting) and Reformed Theological Seminary (M.Div.). He worked for seven years as an accountant before sensing God’s call to ministry. He loves studying and teaching the Word, reading authors old and new, photography, and playing all kinds of games with his family. His passion is for connecting the mind and heart in the Word of God, and he particularly identifies with John Piper’s definition of preaching as ‘expository exultation’.
Eric longs to see the body of Christ growing together into the likeness of Christ – building one another up in love, reaching out to the lost with the gospel of salvation, and bringing glory to God as each member carries out his or her role in the life of Christ’s Church (cf. Eph 4:15-16; 1 Pet 4:10-11). To this end, he strives for a ministry that can be summarized with the words of the apostle Paul: “[Christ] we proclaim, warning everyone and teaching everyone with all wisdom, that we may present everyone mature in Christ” (Col 1:28). Eric is married to Laura, who also graduated from Westminster in 2004 (B.A. in Sociology and Marketing). Laura is an excellent cook, a wonderful mom, and has a gift for hospitality. She also has an artistic side and loves both design and painting. Eric and Laura have two boys, Maury and Abram, and two girls, Olive and Eila. |
